Philippians 3:12-14
As Brad was speaking on this passage last week and drawing the example of Rocky and how he never gives up even when he's down really got me thinking. Athletes put themselves through such grueling training day and night to be good at something, to keep on running, keep on going. Their reward is to be a winner, or maybe a medal but to some for the praise of people. They keep their eyes on the prize and they strive towards it because they value the prize.
It's the same for us in everything that we do. In our actions are we training ourselves and striving for our goal? Of course, winning let's say, a gold medal at the Olympics is amazing and it's a great achievement but at the end of the day, it is for the praise of Man. It's something that is here today and gone tomorrow. But what we have in Christ, well, that is something truly amazing. Everything pales in comparison and if you really think about it we are all fools for not trying harder to reach for that prize. The Praise of God is eternal, it is praise from the most praiseworthy being in existence!
Keeping your eyes on the prize...keep running towards God because He is the most satisfying thing bar none. We were created for that very purpose and that is what will make us whole. Our prize and treasure is in eternity, where nothing can destroy it and nothing can take it away.
